TEDS-A and TEDS-D Data Now Available on DAS

The Treatment Episode Data Set - Admissions (TEDS-A) 2021 public-use files and the Treatment Episode Data Set – Discharges (TEDS-D) 2021 public-use files are available on the Data Analysis System site. The TEDS is a national data system of annual admissions to and discharges from substance use treatment services reported by single state agencies.

The Treatment Episode Data Set - Admissions (TEDS-A) concatenated 2000-2021 and 2021 public-use files are available on the SAMHDA site. In addition, the Treatment Episode Data Set: Discharges (TEDS-D) 2021 public-use files are also available. TEDS is a national data system of annual admissions to and discharges from substance use treatment services reported by single state agencies.

Treatment Episode Data Set (TEDS) 2021: Admissions to and Discharges from Substance Use Treatment Services Reported by Single State Agencies annual report presents the total number of admissions to and discharges from substance use treatment services in 2021 by demographics, National Outcome Measures (NOMs), morbidity status, and the top six primary substances by geographic distribution. Additional data are also available in the 2021 TEDS Detailed Tables, Data Set Documentation and Data Set Downloads.

2023 NSDUH Annual Release

An analysis of 2022 NSDUH data presents nationally representative estimates on the use of tobacco, alcohol, and drugs; substance use disorders; mental health issues; and substance use and mental health treatment among the civilian, noninstitutionalized population aged 12 or older in the United States.

DAS Announcement

SAMHSA is excited to announce that our new Data Analysis System (DAS) is now live as of 10-25-2023! The tool has been redesigned so that users can now access the same data available on the legacy PDAS and RDAS tools with a modernized and streamlined site. We have also used more plain language in our system.

MH-CLD Data Now Available on PDAS

The following Mental Health Client-Level Data are now available on the Public-use Data Analysis System site:

The Mental Health Client-Level Data (MH-CLD) system consists of two data sources: the Mental Health Client-Level Data (MH-CLD) and the Mental Health Treatment Episode Data Set (MH-TEDS). The system provides information on mental health diagnoses and the mental health treatment services, National Outcome Measures (NOMs), and demographic and substance use characteristics of clients in mental health treatment facilities. This information comes from facilities that report to their respective state mental health agency.

2021 MH-CLD Public-Use Files Available on SAMHDA

The Mental Health Client-Level Data (MH-CLD) 2013-2021 public-use files are available on the SAMHDA site. The MH-CLD provides information on mental health diagnoses, mental health treatment services, National Outcome Measures (NOMs), and demographic and substance use characteristics of clients in mental health treatment facilities. This information comes from facilities that report to their respective mental health agency.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration today announced the release of the Mental Health Client-Level Data (MH-CLD) 2021: Data on Clients Receiving Mental Health Treatment Services Through State Mental Health Agencies. This report describes the total number of clients receiving mental health treatment services in 2021 by demographics, National Outcome Measures (NOMs), and the top five mental health diagnoses for children (ages 0 - 17) and adults (18 and older) by geographic distribution.

The National Substance Use and Mental Health Services Survey (N-SUMHSS) 2022 public-use files are available on the SAMHDA site. The N-SUMHSS is an annual survey that provides information about the number and characteristics of public and private substance use and mental health treatment facilities within United States and its territories.
