This report presents findings from the 2017 National Mental Health Services Survey (N-MHSS) conducted from March 2017 through December 2017. The N-MHSS collects information from all known facilities in the United States, both public and private, that provide mental health treatment services to people with mental illness. The Center for Behavioral Health Statistics and Quality (CBHSQ) of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, plans and directs the N-MHSS

State Profiles

These state profiles include data from facilities that reported to N-MHSS for the survey reference date April 30, 2017. The N-MHSS collects data on the location, characteristics, services offered, and number of clients (collected every other year) in treatment at mental health treatment facilities (public and private) throughout the 50 states, the District of Columbia, U.S. territories, and other jurisdictions.
