The proposed study will utilize the National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH), which measures MDE and self-reported medical conditions among adolescents aged 12 to 17. Self-reported height and weight were also collected starting in 2013, from which body mass index will be computed. Initially, estimates of physical health conditions among adolescents with and without MDE will be reported. Further analyses will explore the demographic characteristics and other factors identified in the literature that may contribute to increased risk for physical health conditions among adolescents with MDE compared to those without MDE. Higher level analyses will employ logistic regression or other appropriate methods to assess and adjust for confounding factors in the association between MDE and physical health conditions among adolescents.
